2027 Honda CRF1150L Africa Twin: What's New Compared to the Previous Model, and How Do the Three Versions Differ?

* เครื่องยนต์ 2 สูบเรียง จาก 1,084 → 1,131cc
* กำลังสูงสุด 75 → 87.5 kW หรือประมาณ 102 → 119 PS เพิ่มขึ้นราว 16.7%
* แรงบิด 112 → 119 Nm
* ขยายลูกสูบจาก 92 → 94 มม.
* ช่วงชักเท่าเดิม 81.5 มม.
* กำลังอัด 10.5:1 → 12.1:1
* ปรับ Cam Timing และ Valve Lift ใหม่
* ปรับชุดวาล์ว ลูกสูบ ก้านสูบ ข้อเหวี่ยง และเพลาบาลานซ์
* ปรับระบบไอดีและท่อไอเสียใหม่
* ปรับคลัตช์และอัตราทดเกียร์ใหม่
* มีทั้งเกียร์ธรรมดา 6 สปีด และ DCT ตามรุ่นย่อย

1. CRF1150L Africa Twin
* เครื่องยนต์ใหม่ 1,131cc
* ล้อหน้า 21 นิ้ว หลัง 18 นิ้ว
* ล้อซี่ลวดแบบ Tubeless
* โช้คหน้า Upside Down ขนาด 49 มม.
* โช้คหลัง Pro-Link
* ช่วงล่างไฟฟ้า Showa EERA
* เพิ่มระบบ Honda Skyhook Control
* เพิ่ม Riding Mode ใหม่ Offroad+
* มีทั้งเกียร์ Manual และ DCT
* เครื่องยนต์แรงขึ้นประมาณ 16.7%
* เฟรมและสวิงอาร์มใหม่
* โช้คหน้าขยายจาก 45 เป็น 49 มม.
* รุ่นก่อนมีทางเลือกทั้งโช้คธรรมดาและโช้คไฟฟ้า ส่วนรุ่นใหม่ติดตั้ง Showa EERA มาเป็นมาตรฐาน
* เพิ่ม Skyhook Control
* เพิ่มโหมด Offroad+
* ปรับการกระจายน้ำหนักใหม่

2. CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports
* เครื่องยนต์ 1,131cc
* ล้อหน้า 19 นิ้ว หลัง 18 นิ้ว
* ถังน้ำมัน 24.2 ลิตร
* เพิ่ม Fuel Sub-Tank ใต้เบาะ
* ความสูงเบาะปรับได้ 830–850 มม.
* โช้คไฟฟ้า Showa EERA พร้อม Skyhook Control
* ชิลด์หน้าไฟฟ้า ปรับสูงต่ำได้ 130 มม.
* หน้าจอ TFT Touchscreen 7 นิ้ว
* จอแสดงข้อมูลรถแยก 5.7 นิ้ว
* Wireless Apple CarPlay และ Android Auto
* Cruise Control และ Heated Grips
* มีทั้งเกียร์ Manual และ DCT
* เครื่องยนต์ 1,084 → 1,131cc
* กำลังสูงสุด 75 → 87.5 kW
* ถังน้ำมัน 24.8 → 24.2 ลิตร
* เพิ่มถังน้ำมันย่อยใต้เบาะ
* น้ำหนักรุ่น Manual 243 → 245 กก.
* น้ำหนักรุ่น DCT 253 → 255 กก.
* เบาะต่ำลง 5 มม. จาก 835–855 เป็น 830–850 มม.
* เพิ่ม Skyhook Control
* ชิลด์หน้าจากปรับมือ เปลี่ยนเป็นไฟฟ้า
* หน้าจอ TFT จาก 6.5 → 7 นิ้ว
* Apple CarPlay และ Android Auto เปลี่ยนเป็นแบบ Wireless

3. CRF1150L Africa Twin Enduro Sports

4. Adventure Sports Honda SENSING RIDE
* Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
* Group Ride Assist
* Distance Assist
* Forward Collision Warning
* Emergency Brake Assist
* Blind Spot Information
* Rear Distance Information
* Rear Collision Warning

2027 Honda CRF1150L Africa Twin: What's New Compared to the Previous Model, and How Do the Three Versions Differ?
For 2027, Honda has given the Africa Twin a fairly substantial update. The model designation has changed from CRF1100L to CRF1150L, and this is about much more than simply increasing engine capacity. Honda has also revised the frame, swingarm, weight distribution, suspension and introduced several new rider-assistance technologies.
The new line-up is divided into three main versions: Africa Twin, Adventure Sports and Enduro Sports. Honda SENSING RIDE is an additional variant of the Adventure Sports, featuring an expanded suite of rider-assistance systems.
Let's start with the engine, which has received some of the most significant changes.

Engine: More Capacity, More Power and Torque
-Parallel-twin engine capacity increased from 1,084cc to 1,131cc
-Maximum power increased from 75 kW to 87.5 kW, or approximately 102 PS to 119 PS — an increase of around 16.7%
-Maximum torque increased from 112 Nm to 119 Nm
-Bore increased from 92 mm to 94 mm
-Stroke remains unchanged at 81.5 mm
-Compression ratio increased from 10.5:1 to 12.1:1
-Revised cam timing and valve lift
-Updated valve train, pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft and balancer shaft
-Revised intake system and exhaust system
-Updated clutch and transmission ratios
-Available with either a 6-speed manual transmission or DCT, depending on the version
As you can see, Honda hasn't simply increased the bore to gain more displacement. Several internal engine components have been revised, with the increase in compression ratio being one of the most notable changes.

Frame & Handling
-Newly designed Steel Semi-Double Cradle frame
-Newly designed aluminium swingarm
-Combined frame and swingarm weight reduced by 1.4 kg
-Revised frame stiffness balance
-Additional fuel sub-tank positioned beneath the seat
-Handlebar position revised to be narrower, higher and further forward
-Revised footpeg positioning
-Redesigned seat profile
One particularly interesting change is the fuel system. Honda has relocated part of the fuel capacity into a secondary tank beneath the seat to help lower the motorcycle's centre of gravity.
This is especially relevant for an adventure motorcycle with a large fuel tank. Moving some of that weight lower down should help improve handling and make direction changes feel more manageable.

1. CRF1150L Africa Twin – Standard
Designed for versatile adventure riding, both on-road and off-road.
-New 1,131cc engine
-21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels
-Tubeless wire-spoke wheels
-49 mm upside-down front forks
-Pro-Link rear suspension
-Showa EERA electronic suspension
-New Honda Skyhook Control
-New Offroad+ Riding Mode
-Available with manual or DCT transmission

Compared with the previous CRF1100L :
-Engine power increased by approximately 16.7%
-New frame and swingarm
-Front fork diameter increased from 45 mm to 49 mm
-Previous model offered both conventional and electronic suspension options; the new model comes with Showa EERA as standard
-Added Skyhook Control
-Added Offroad+ Riding Mode
-Revised weight distribution
-The standard Africa Twin remains the more versatile option for riders who want a motorcycle capable of handling both paved roads and dirt trails, with its 21-inch front wheel retaining its off-road-oriented character.

2. CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports
More focused on long-distance touring, road riding, two-up travel and carrying luggage.
-New 1,131cc engine
-19-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels
-24.2-litre main fuel tank
-Additional fuel sub-tank beneath the seat
-Adjustable seat height: 830–850 mm
-Showa EERA electronic suspension with Skyhook Control
-Electrically adjustable windscreen with 130 mm of adjustment
-7-inch TFT touchscreen display
-Separate 5.7-inch motorcycle information display
-Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
-Cruise Control and Heated Grips
-Available with manual or DCT transmission

Compared with the previous Adventure Sports :
-Engine capacity increased from 1,084cc to 1,131cc
-Maximum power increased from 75 kW to 87.5 kW
-Main fuel tank capacity reduced from 24.8 to 24.2 litres
-Added a secondary fuel tank beneath the seat
-Manual version weight increased from 243 kg to 245 kg
-DCT version weight increased from 253 kg to 255 kg
-Seat height lowered by 5 mm, from 835–855 mm to 830–850 mm
-Added Skyhook Control
-Windscreen adjustment changed from manual to electric
-TFT display increased from 6.5 inches to 7 inches
-Apple CarPlay and Android Auto now support wireless connectivity
-Interestingly, despite the frame and swingarm becoming lighter, the overall motorcycle is approximately 2 kg heavier. This is worth keeping in mind, as the additional equipment and technology also contribute to the final weight. A lighter frame does not necessarily mean a lighter complete motorcycle.

3. CRF1150L Africa Twin Enduro Sports
A new version developed for riders who want to take the Africa Twin further into serious off-road territory.
-Based on the new 1,131cc engine platform
-More strongly focused on off-road riding than the standard version
-Suspension development draws inspiration from the CRF450 RALLY race bike
-Focuses on absorbing impacts and maintaining control over rough terrain
-Suspension setup tailored towards demanding off-road use
The biggest difference from the previous line-up is the introduction of a dedicated off-road-focused version. This gives riders a clearer choice between a motorcycle intended for long-distance adventure touring and one designed to tackle more demanding dirt routes.

4. Adventure Sports Honda SENSING RIDE
This is another particularly interesting addition to the 2027 line-up.
Honda has introduced front and rear radar systems, working in conjunction with the DCT transmission to provide a more comprehensive range of rider-assistance features.
The new systems include:
-Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC): Maintains the selected speed and following distance from the vehicle ahead
-ACC Stop & Go: Helps bring the motorcycle to a stop and resume moving in traffic
-Group Ride Assist: Helps maintain distance when riding in a group
-Distance Assist: Helps manage the distance from the vehicle ahead
-Forward Collision Warning: Warns the rider of a potential forward collision
-Emergency Brake Assist: Provides additional braking assistance when a collision risk is detected
-Blind Spot Information: Alerts the rider to vehicles in blind spots
-Rear Distance Information: Provides alerts when vehicles approach from behind
-Rear Collision Warning: Warns of a potential rear-end collision
It's important to understand that Emergency Brake Assist is a braking-support system. It does not mean the motorcycle can take over riding or bring itself to a complete stop in every situation.
As for weight, the standard Adventure Sports DCT weighs 255 kg, while the SENSING RIDE version weighs 256 kg — just 1 kg more.

So, Which Version Is Right for You?
1.Africa Twin – Standard
For riders who want a versatile adventure motorcycle for both road and off-road use. Its 21-inch front wheel makes it the more dirt-oriented option of the main range.

2.Africa Twin Adventure Sports
For riders who prioritise long-distance touring, with a larger fuel capacity, a 19-inch front wheel and more comfort and convenience features.

3.Africa Twin Enduro Sports
For riders who want to take their Africa Twin into more serious off-road riding, particularly with its specialised suspension development.

4.Adventure Sports Honda SENSING RIDE
For riders who prioritise touring and want radar-based rider-assistance technology, including Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, working alongside the DCT transmission.
My Take on the 2027 Africa Twin

Personally, I think the most interesting changes to the 2027 Africa Twin go well beyond the increase in horsepower.
From a real-world riding perspective, relocating part of the fuel capacity beneath the seat to lower the centre of gravity, along with the revised frame and suspension, could have a considerable effect on how the motorcycle feels on the road and off it.
Another major highlight is the introduction of Honda SENSING RIDE, particularly Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go. This feature seems especially well suited to the way the DCT transmission operates and could prove very useful for riders who regularly travel long distances or encounter heavy traffic.

Overall, the 2027 Africa Twin isn't simply a bigger-capacity version of its predecessor. Honda has made changes throughout the motorcycle, from the engine and chassis to the suspension and rider-assistance technology, while also expanding the range to suit different riding styles.
