จะขี่หล่อ ๆ ใช้งานบนถนน หรือออกทริปชิล ๆ ก็ทำได้สบาย
แต่ในขณะเดียวกัน คาแรคเตอร์ก็ยังเป็น “รถสปอร์ตสายเรซซิ่ง”
พร้อมฟีเจอร์การขับขี่แบบรถยุคใหม่ครบ ๆ
และถ้าจะเอาไปลงสนามแข่ง…ก็ทำได้ดีไม่แพ้กัน
ความน่าสนใจของ R9 อยู่ตรงที่
พื้นฐานเครื่องยนต์เป็น CP3 ขนาด 900 ซีซี
ซึ่งถูกวางให้มาอยู่ในเซกเมนต์ที่ทดแทน R6 ของ Yamaha
ทำให้คนที่อยากเริ่มต้นขี่สปอร์ตไบค์ หรืออยาก “ลงสนามจริงจัง”
สามารถเข้าถึงได้ง่ายมาก
ด้วยคาแรคเตอร์รถยุคใหม่ที่
• น้ำหนักเบา
• ควบคุมง่าย
• อิเล็กทรอนิกส์ครบ
• กำลังเครื่อง “แรงพอดี” ไม่โหดเกินไป
มันเลยเหมาะมากสำหรับการ “ฝึกพื้นฐาน” ในสนาม
แค่รถเดิม ๆ สแตนดาร์ด
เปลี่ยนเป็นยางสนาม ก็สนุกได้ทันที หรือจริงๆจะยางเดิมติดรถก็สนุกได้เช่นกัน
และเมื่อวันหนึ่งทักษะเราดีขึ้น เวลาต่อรอบเริ่มลดลง
อยากพัฒนาไปอีกขั้น ตัวรถก็ยัง “มีของ” ให้ต่อยอดได้อีกเยอะ
เพราะพื้นฐานเป็นเครื่องใหญ่เกือบ 900 ซีซี
สามารถอัปเกรดแล้ว เพื่อปลดล๊อค “แรงขึ้นแบบก้าวกระโดด”

รอบนี้ผมมีโอกาสได้ลองขี่ Yamaha R9
ในสเปกรถเดิม เปลี่ยนท่อ 1 ใบ
และใส่ยาง Bridgestone Battlax S23
(ยางเดิมติดรถจะเป็น Battlax RS11)
บอกตรง ๆ เลยว่า “สนุกมาก”
กำลังเครื่องมาแบบพอดี
ขี่แล้วไม่เหนื่อย รถไม่กินแรง
แต่ให้ความรู้สึก “เพลิน” มากในการขับขี่
ผมขี่เต็ม session ได้แบบสบาย ๆ
ไม่รู้สึกเหนื่อยเลย
ปกติผมจะออกก่อน session จบเสมอ
แต่รอบนี้รู้สึกเลยว่า
“ทำไมมันจบเร็วขนาดนี้”
กำลังสนุก กำลังได้ฟีล
แต่หมดเวลาไปแล้ว
นี่แหละครับ…เสน่ห์ของ Yamaha R9

The Yamaha R9 is one of those motorcycles that truly offers incredible versatility.
Whether you want a stylish bike for everyday road riding, a comfortable machine for long weekend trips, or a proper sportbike for track riding — it can do all of it remarkably well.
At the same time, its character still feels very much like a true racing-inspired sportbike, packed with all the modern riding technology you would expect from a new-generation machine.
And if you want to take it onto the racetrack… it absolutely belongs there too.
What makes the R9 especially interesting is its 900cc CP3 engine platform, positioned by Yamaha as the spiritual successor to the R6 segment.
That makes it incredibly approachable for riders who want to step into the world of sportbikes or start taking track riding seriously.
Its modern character comes from a combination of:
• Lightweight handling
• Easy controllability
• Full electronic rider aids
• Strong but manageable power delivery
The power is exciting without being intimidating, which makes the R9 an excellent platform for building riding fundamentals on the track.
Even in completely stock form, simply swapping to track-focused tires is enough to make the bike genuinely fun. Honestly, even the stock tires are already enjoyable to ride with.
And as your riding skills improve, your lap times drop, and you want to progress further, the bike still has plenty of potential left to unlock.
Because the platform is based on a nearly 900cc engine, it has significant room for upgrades — allowing riders to unleash a dramatic jump in performance and move toward a much higher level.
Another important point is the value for money.
The price is not excessively high, and Yamaha actively supports riders with activities ranging from:
• Full-scale circuits like Chang International Circuit
• Medium-sized racetracks
• Touring and riding events

This time, I had the chance to ride the Yamaha R9 in near-stock specification, fitted with only a slip-on exhaust and Bridgestone Battlax S23 tires.
(The stock tires are Bridgestone Battlax RS11.)
Honestly… it was incredibly fun.
The engine performance felt perfectly balanced.
The bike was easy to ride, not physically exhausting, yet extremely engaging at the same time.
I was able to ride an entire session comfortably without feeling tired at all.
Normally, I tend to leave the track before the session ends.
But this time, I genuinely felt:
“Why did the session end so quickly?”
I was fully enjoying the ride, fully immersed in the feeling… and suddenly, time was up.
And that right there…
is the true charm of the Yamaha R9.
